Professor George Benwell
Dean of the School of Business |
Greetings and welcome to the School of Business at the University
of Otago.
The University of Otago has maintained a reputation for excellence
in education and research for more than 130 years and business
education since 1912. A pacesetter in New Zealand business education,
the School of Business pioneered the first full-time MBA in
the country in 1976 (a programme which has been internationally
ranked by the Financial Times and Economist Intelligence Unit
as well as other leading authorities on world-class MBAs). We
now offer more than 20 programmes from undergraduate level right
through to executive education. We offer leading edge degrees
and courses in our programmes including the recently introduced
Master of Entrepreneurship and courses in entrepreneurship and
the management of innovation.
In addition to being in the leading group of business schools
in New Zealand (based on PBRF rankings), the School of Business
is internationally recognised as part of the prestigious PIM
(Partners in International Management) network. Our staff and
students come from around the world and we have links with top
international business schools and universities providing opportunities
for staff and students to interact with the best and the brightest.
Our graduates have an excellent reputation in the international
business arena and are well known throughout the world for
their independence and practicality derived from the Otago culture.
We maintain contact with our graduates through annual alumni
functions around the globe, email contact and our bi-annual
graduates' magazine School of Business News. Our alumni
are kept abreast of developments and catch up with the activities
of the School.
I invite you to explore our website and learn more about the
School of Business and the University of Otago and I welcome
you to visit us at the Dunedin and Auckland campuses.
I look forward to seeing you at the School of Business.
