Stephen Baird

Senior Lecturer

Stephen is a part time Senior Lecturer in Business Law. Originally he studied Mathematics and Chemistry at the University of Otago and spent a substantial period in teaching, first in secondary schools both in New Zealand and overseas, and later as a Senior Lecturer in mathematics at the Dunedin College of Education. He completed a law degree in the 'eighties and spent a period in private practice as a solicitor before joining the Department as coordinator of the Business Law Programme in late 1989. He retired from full time lecturing in 2005, but continues in a 40% role.

Stephen convenes paper ACCT304 and also contributes to ACTB202, ACTB203 and MANV101. His research interests include contract exclusions in insurance law and valuation problems in loan finance and relationship property settlements.
