Carolyn Stringer BBus(Hons) MBus PhD CPA ACA 
Senior Lecturer
Carolyn Stringer is a Senior Lecturer and holds an MBus and BBus (Hons), both in Accounting, from Monash University, Melbourne and a PhD from University of Otago. She is VP, NZ Branch Council, CPA Australia Limited, and an associate member of NZICA.
She has over 14 years of university teaching experience, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels in New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong. Her teaching is across all levels in the management accounting area.
Carolyn’s current research is in the area of performance management and involves case studies, surveys and archival research focusing on the operation of the holistic performance management framework, showing the links and inter-dependencies. She has published in international journals including Accounting Education: an International Journal and the International Journal of Business Studies and Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management. She is one of the Conference Chairs currently organising The Sixth International Conference on Theory and Practice in Performance Measurement to be held at the University of Otago 14-17 April, 2009. This is a unique inter-disciplinary and international forum for the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and research about organizational performance measurement and management within both the public and private sectors between practitioners and academics.
Research Interests:
Performance management including balanced scorecard, EVA, performance measurement, target setting, performance evaluation, and incentive systems.
