Language Papers

The University of Otago currently offers the following languages from which students will be required to choose one: Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish.

Depending on whether you have previous language experience or no previous language skills your options will be different. The language courses you take will be determined by the Director, International Business in consultation with the relevant language department. The language ability of each individual student will be assessed by the Department of Languages and Cultures and students will be allocated to papers accordingly.

Cultural/International Papers

For students who first language is neither English nor Maori, cultural/international papers may be taken in place of specific language papers. Most of these are run through the Division of Humanities.

The DipLang and DipLangCult

An exciting development in the Department of Languages and Cultures, either the Diploma in Language or the Diploma in Language and Culture would make an excellent addition to your International Business degree. For more information, download and read the International Business FAQ.
