ECON 316 Open Economy Macroeconomics

18 points. Semester 1.

Overview

This course examines macroeconomic and monetary aspects of international economics, including the balance of payments, the foreign exchange market, international monetary systems, external debt, and the effectiveness of monetary, fiscal and exchange rate policy in an open economy.

As part of the internal assessment for this course involves empirically testing an economic theory, some familiarity with basic regression analysis (i.e., being able to: estimate an OLS regression using, say, Excel; interpret t-statistics; etc.) is expected.
