ECON 104 New Zealand Economic
History
18 points. Not offered in 2009.
Overview
This paper provides an appreciation of the economic forces that
have helped shape the economy and society of New Zealand. The paper
tracks the evolution of the New Zealand economy from Polynesian
settlement, to European discovery and settlement, through to the
"revolution" of the 1980s and 90s. The paper focuses on
how the economy has adjusted to the economic dislocation created
by the process of colonisation, war, depression and technological
change and in particular the important role the state has played
in New Zealand's economic development.
